America’s most treasured places and stories will be able to flourish in posterity thanks to the visionary accomplishment of our 59th Congress in 1906 with the passage of the Antiquities Act. It was for the permanent conservation of places like Castner Range National Monument that our democracy is able to benefit all Americans with the riches of our public lands. The Antiquities Act is an essential tool that allowed President Biden to address the severe nature deprivation experienced by 9 in 10 Latinos and 95% of low-income residents in El Paso, Texas by creating Castner Range National Monument at the edge of El Paso. We celebrate the public health, scientific endeavors, educational opportunities, and economic nourishment that the monument will provide for the public. The Antiquities Act must be defended and preserved so President Biden and future U.S. presidents may continue the urgent task of conserving our nation’s treasured public lands.
