On the 82nd anniversary of Emmett Till’s birth, President Joe Biden designated his fourth national monument today – the Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley National Monument.
The National Monument will include three historic sites in Chicago, Illinois; Sumner, Mississippi; and just outside of Glendora, Mississippi. The sites tell the story of Emmett Till’s racially motivated murder, the events that followed, and the courageous activism and leadership of his mother, Mamie Till-Mobley.
